How it all began...
Precious Kids Ministries (PKM) was formed in honor of our son, Ethan Kyle Barreto. Ethan was diagnosed with a brain tumor in December of 2004 at the age of three. He underwent numerous operations to allow his body to fight this terrible disease. Ethan fought like a champion by relearning how to walk and talk. However, after several months the tumor came back. He underwent another brain operation, but this one was not as successful as the previous one.
Every night Ethan prayed for poor children without parents. He would always worrying about others before himself. He would even want to share his money with people he thought needed it more than him. It was the example of one boy’s prayer that lead us to create the Precious Kids Ministries. In his memory this ministry took shape.
Our ministry collects and organizes donated clothes and shoes that your children may have out-grown, and distributes them to impoverished children. Many children in the Dominican Republic struggle to have one meal a day. PKM buys and distributes healthy foods for children and families through out the year. We also help pay for the children's uniforms for school and purchase school supplies while parents have an opportunity to find employment to help improve their living conditions.
More than anything, PKM wants the children we serve to know the love of Christ and the hope He offers. We provide children's bibles and bible lesson worksheets in Spanish, along with colored pencils (as crayons often melt) with pencil sharpeners.
We are a small, humble group of Christians who donate our time and gifts whenever and wherever possible, to help the children in the Santiago area of the Dominican Republic. Join us in making a difference for these children.
