Our Mission

How it all began...
Precious Kids Ministries (PKM) was born from the deepest place in our hearts—our love for our son, Ethan Kyle Barreto. At just three years old, Ethan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He endured more than most of us ever will, facing surgery after surgery, relearning how to walk and speak, always with courage far beyond his years. For a time, we had hope. But when the tumor returned, even another operation couldn’t save him. On March 29, 2006, surrounded by his family, Ethan went home to be with the Lord.

Ethan was more than a fighter—he was pure love in motion. Every night, even in pain, he prayed for children who had no parents, no food, no home. He wanted to give away whatever he had to help others. His compassion was instinctive, his heart wide open. He reminded us daily what it means to live with kindness, humility, and grace.

PKM is Ethan’s legacy. It’s our way of carrying forward the love he gave so freely. Through this ministry, we continue his mission—to care for children in need, just as he always wished. His light hasn’t dimmed; it lives on in every child we serve.

We concentrate our efforts in

Santiago, Dominican Republic...

PKM is devoted to bringing hope, love, and dignity to children facing unimaginable hardships in the Dominican Republic. We lovingly collect and distribute gently used clothes and shoes, ensuring they reach children in desperate need. We provide nourishing meals year-round, school uniforms, and essential supplies—helping children stay healthy, attend school, and dream of a better future. This support also lightens the load for struggling families, giving parents the chance to rebuild their lives.

We stand beside pediatric cancer patients and their families in their most difficult moments, covering the costs of treatments, medications, transportation, and hospital bills. Beyond financial help, we offer moments of joy—organizing special outings and events that create cherished memories and brighten even the darkest days.

Rooted in the boundless love of Christ, we share children’s Bibles, Spanish-language lesson sheets, and art supplies, reminding every child that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved. Our mission reaches beyond physical needs—it’s about planting lasting seeds of faith, hope, and compassion.

Inspired by Ethan’s heartfelt prayer to “help all the poor kids with no mommies & daddies and no food to eat,” we strive each day to carry that dream forward—becoming the hands and feet of love for the children who need it most.4o

Our team...

We are a small group of people who freely donate our time and gifts whenever and wherever possible to help the children we serve in the Dominican Republic. Our mission is to honor Ethan's prayer. Our hope is to break the cycle of poverty in the lives of the children we help.  Join us in making a difference for these children.
